Erosion Management

Soil erosion

Soil erosion is a natural process. It becomes a problem when human activity causes it to occur much faster than under natural conditions. That is when you will need to consider erosion control. Soil erosion occurs in situations such as road building, unmanaged construction activity, deforestation and agricultural land use. University analysis has shown that human activity causes 10 times more erosion of continental surfaces than all natural processes combined.

Soil erosion occurs when the actions of water, wind, and other factors eat away and wear down the land, causing the soil to deteriorate or disappear completely. Soil deterioration and low quality of water due to erosion and run off has often become a severe problem around the world.

The team at Evergreen Power Seeding are erosion control experts & contractor who specialise in soil stabilisation across Queensland through the processes of soil management and re-vegetation using Hydro Seeding techniques, fertilising and the use of vegetation appropriate for the conditions.

Mulching for prevention of Soil Erosion

Mulch material drastically reduces the speed of surface water passing over sloping areas during heavy rainfall.

It remains intact until such time as the root system of the vegetation has developed. The mulch protects the soil surface from wind and water erosion, birds and other predators.

Advantages of Native Seeding for Erosion Control

  • Low long-term maintenance – shading effects inhibit weed and grass growth.
  • Drought tolerant-native species are adapted to Australia’s extremes in climate.
  • Local flora exists in harmony with the locality and as a habitat for bird and animal life.
  • Once established native plants form a self-regenerating eco-system.
